Dota 2 is a team-based multiplayer online battle arena game developed and published by Valve. Ten players compete in matches that depend on login services, matchmaking, and regional game servers staying online at the same time. The official website also hosts patch notes and event pages. The most common issues are failed connections during match loading, queue errors, and login problems tied to Steam. Patch days can bring temporary instability. Matchmaking servers in one region may fail while others work normally. On your side, first confirm your Steam client is updated and you can log in there. Check your own internet connection, then look at whether other players report the same problem. Restarting the game before trying a full reinstall saves time.

Questions

Is Dota 2 down right now?

According to reports on this page, Dota 2 looks fine for most people. Isolated failures still happen — report yours if you are stuck.

When was the last mass outage?

We do not have a recorded mass outage for Dota 2 yet.

Why can't I connect to a match even though my internet works?

Match servers can fail independently of your connection. Check the server status on this page, then retry from the main menu. If one region keeps failing, waiting a few minutes usually resolves it.

Does a Dota 2 outage affect my Steam account?

No. Login problems within Dota 2 are usually separate from your overall Steam account. If you cannot log in anywhere on Steam, the issue is likely with Steam itself, not Dota 2.
