About Yahoo Mail

Yahoo Mail is an American email service and webmail provider owned by Yahoo. It was launched on October 8, 1997 and is based in the United States. The service is available at mail.yahoo.com.
Yahoo Mail is a long-running email service used by millions of people for personal and work correspondence. When it has problems, they usually show up as trouble signing in, messages that will not send or arrive, or the app freezing on a phone. This page collects user reports so you can see whether others are affected too. It is a good first stop before you spend time resetting passwords or reinstalling apps.
Yahoo Mail is an American email service operated by Yahoo, launched in 1997. It offers webmail through a browser and mobile apps, along with address book, calendar, and search features. Many people use it as their primary personal inbox for years at a time. Common trouble spots include login failures, slow app performance, attachments that will not upload or download, and delays in sending or receiving mail. Connection errors between the app and Yahoo's servers are also frequent. Most of these trace back to either a service-side disruption or a local issue like a stale app version. Start on your side by checking your internet connection, confirming your password, and making sure the app is updated. Try the webmail version at mail.yahoo.com if the app misbehaves. If webmail works but the app does not, the problem is likely local. If both fail at once, check this page for a wider pattern in recent reports.

Questions

Is Yahoo Mail down right now?

According to reports on this page, Yahoo Mail looks fine for most people. Isolated failures still happen — report yours if you are stuck.

When was the last mass outage?

The last mass outage ran from Jul 24, 2025 3:35 PM to Jul 24, 2025 6:03 PM (2 hours).

Why can I receive mail but not send it?

Sending failures often point to an outgoing server issue or a problem with the message itself, such as a large attachment. Check your connection, remove oversized attachments, and try again. If sending keeps failing while receiving works, others may be reporting the same thing here.

The app keeps freezing after an update. What should I do?

Force-close the app and reopen it. If it still freezes, clear the app cache or reinstall it. Signing in through the browser is a reliable fallback while you sort out the app.

Since this afternoon, I haven’t been able to get into my email. An error message comes up and it says cannot connect to server. It won’t let me log into my yahoo app either. After many attempts and different ways of trying things to gain access, now I get a it’s not you, it’s us. Please try later and tap OK. I checked to see if there was an outage and there have been no reports accept for one from yesterday. This has happens to me before, and I usually had to change my password with yahoo in order to gain access again. But. This time, I can’t do it. I need to have access to ny emails for business purposes.

Over the years Yahoo and Yahoo Mail have had excellent reliability. Today, for maybe the 4th or 5th time ever (which is pretty good considering the amount of time I've used it), the service has been up and down; the main problem is the ability to read mail; much of the time today it's been down completely; rare, but it's happening today.
